If you're a gardener with weaker hands due to aging or an illness, you will like these pruning shears. They're lightweight, can be used if you're left-handed or right-handed, and require less pressure for pruning.
One key feature is the 3 to 4 stage ratchet mechanism. If you're pruning a thicker branch, you can cut to a point and the ratchet locks in at that position. Then you can apply pressure again and the pruners will continue to cut from that point. What that means is you use much less hand pressure to make cuts.
These shears also come with a sharp blade that you can replace if needed. Nice rubberized grip is really useful too. The Gardener's Friend pruning shears are the perfect gift for gardeners with weak hands.

All-Natural Gardeners' Gold Soap
I love Gardener's Gold Soap because of the scent. It's like being in the middle of a flower garden in the summer sun. If anything will get you through a cold, snowy winter, it's this soap.
The basic scent is floral with citrus undertones. It's a blend of Geranium, Lavender, and Grapefruit essential oils. Carrots contribute the rich gold color.
The soap lathers up really well. It also comes in a distinctive round tin with a vintage gardening scene.

Trowel and Error: Over 700 Tips, Remedies and Shortcuts for the Gardener
This book by Sharon Lovejoy is one of my gardening bibles. It contains 700 organic and old-time gardening tips and tricks to help your garden grow.
I remember my Grandmothers using some of these tips and tricks: making a natural insecticide with fresh basil, tabasco pepper bug spray, using a buttermilk spray to fight spider mites, and how to use aspirin for certain plant fungal infections. These are simple, organic gardening methods that work!
The book is well-written, funny, and has beautiful illustrations. It's a wonderful gift for gardeners!

Welcome to My Sweet Garden Retreat
I've been a gardener most of my life. I love digging in the dirt, planting seeds, watching them sprout and grow until you have a beautiful flower or vegetable. My Mother and both Grandmothers were gardeners. Before that my ancestors were farmers. So I guess I have dirt in my veins :)
I wanted to create a place where I could write a little about gardening. I also want to share neat gifts for gardeners, useful gadgets and cool tools that gardeners would like.
No matter where you live you can plant a seed and create a garden :)
